My version of the Jan Stawasz Centrepiece

It has taken a long time, and there have been many hiccups along the way. First I made a big mistake in the central hexagon, and had to start from scratch again, then I hit a brick wall mentally, because I had never done so many split rings at one time, but I managed to overcome this. Life then threw in a few curve balls in the shape of my husband's illness and other family matters, but finally...finally, it is finished. It is worked in Coats 20, given to me by a dear friend. It is a little like getting a very difficult crossword out, a sort of triumphant relief. It will probably go to my daughter, as she is the one with a beautiful big dining table.

OMG! this is a gorgeous piece of tatting. Congratulations!
I can only dream of making something as big as this.

I am sorry that you had so many difficult things happening your way while making this, but life is like that, I suppose. I hope everything is okay now.

This is a center piece I have been wanting to do also. I Have started one of his big pieces from his book. I need to get back to it someday. Right now I am making his hat from Jan's book. It is the one with the hat brim and it isn't white but lots of color.
Congrats on the centerpiece! IT is beautiful!

Thanks so much for the kind comments. It has just increased my awe of Jan. I have only completed one piece -he has designed and tatted a whole book full and much more.
